In 2015, all member states of the United Nations adopted the 2030 agenda for Sustainable Development. It provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet. The UN’S 17 Sustainable Development Goals serve as an urgent call to action and a foundation for this agenda.

As part of our ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) programme of work, the DANX Carousel group signed up to the UN Global Compact and is focusing on 5 out of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

These 5 goals touch upon areas where we believe our knowledge can have an influential impact in enhancing sustainable development – and where we feel that we have the resources to make a real, positive impact.

Below you can find an overview of the goals we have chosen to focus on as well as some of the initiatives we are working on to follow each of the goals.

Goal number 3: Good Health and Well-being

As a business, we rely on people to achieve our objectives and care about their well-being. We want to secure good health and well-being among all employees and thrive together every day.

We conduct yearly engagement surveys which allow us to see how we are doing, monitor the impact of our initiatives, and identify where we need to take action. In the next two years, we will focus on initiatives that specifically lead to the reduction of stress-related absence, as well as programs to enhance capabilities within stress management.

In addition, we are continuously working locally on action plans to prevent any potential accidents related to our operations and secure a safe working environment for all.

Goal number 4: Quality Education

We want to make sure that our employees get the best opportunities when it comes to education and career development – and, most importantly, make sure that this is equally available for all.

We therefore hold a strong focus on investing in both internal and external training offering different courses, such as our development for growth programme as well as targeted training through our different learning platforms. In addition, we also support learning in the local communities where we are present through our DANX Carousel Foundation.

Goal number 5: Gender Equality

Logistics has for many years been a male-dominated industry. However, this dynamic industry should be accessible to everyone, and we want to secure diversity and gender equality within our group. It is our goal to improve and promote gender equality with 5% on the leadership level and with 2% for all our employees by the end of 2024.

As part of securing this goal, we are participating in the UN’s target gender equality accelerator programme.

Goal number 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities

As a company, we want to inspire and support our local communities through engagement and inclusion. To do so, we have established the DANX Carousel Foundation.

The foundation supports different ways of learning and education for our employees as well as talents connected through near family, our partners, and the broader industry of logistics.

We also endorse local charities and encourage employees to engage with humanitarian causes by donating one workday per year. Read more about the DANX Carousel Foundation and its purpose.

Goal number 13: Climate Action

As a logistics provider, we feel the responsibility to continuously enhance sustainability, decrease emissions from our operations and take care of the environment – which is why goal number 13 is vital. We are committed to progressively improving the efficiency of our transportation networks and below are some of the actions we are currently working on:

  • Measure our CO2 yearly.
  • Start using SAF (Sustainable Air Fuel) on our flights.
  • Increase the use of HVO (Biodiesel) on our road transport.
  • Increase the use of electric vehicles for citywide deliveries.
  • Continued commitment to ISO 14001.
