At DANX Carousel, growth is more than just business expansion—it’s about empowering individuals to reach their full potential. Rabia Adeel, our dedicated FSL/RCD team leader at our warehouse in Jönköping, is a great example of this. After joining the company over six years ago as a warehouse worker while pursuing her studies, Rabia’s journey has been one of continuous learning and development.
As an alumni of DANX Carousel’s Development for Growth Programme—an internal initiative aimed at enhancing junior and middle managers’ leadership skills and personal development—Rabia reflects on how the experience has inspired her growth in the company.
The programme
The Development for Growth programme provides participants with the skills and tools needed to be successful in current and future management roles and helps them to keep their teams engaged and motivated. It touches upon several subjects within management – from leadership styles and values to project management and strategy development.
Additionally, it is facilitated by internal and external development experts and includes four modules that stretch over 12 months. Participants also have the opportunity to build strong networks with colleagues across the organisation, fostering collaboration and shared learning.
Feedback at the center
One key aspect of the programme that Rabia particularly found useful was the 360-degree feedback process. Through this process, participants receive feedback from a range of stakeholders they work closely with i.e. colleagues, managers, and external partners. This gave Rabia a clear understanding of her strengths and showed her areas where she could improve. The feedback helped her become more aware of how others see her and gave her the tools to adjust and grow in her role.
“It’s easy to overestimate or underestimate yourself. The feedback process helped me see where I’m doing well and where I need to adapt or improve. That was a great and helpful eye-opener.”
By incorporating the valuable feedback, she’s been able to refine her management style and support her team in the best way.
Building trust and broadening perspectives
Another aspect of the programme that Rabia found essential was learning to build trust in the team she manages and delegate tasks which she had found challenging in the past:
“I used to find it hard to trust others or delegate tasks. But through this programme, I learned the importance of trusting my team and stepping back to allow others to step up. It’s about sharing knowledge and giving others the chance to grow.”
The programme also provided Rabia with the opportunity to connect and collaborate with colleagues from across Europe, which broadened her perspective on leadership:
“Meeting colleagues from all over Europe as part of the programme was an incredible experience. Learning about their cultures, perspectives, and management styles was really inspiring and has helped me approach challenges in new ways.”
Going forward, Rabia continues to implement what she learned, fostering a positive and collaborative environment within her team.
“I want my team members to grow just as I have. It’s rewarding to see them take on new challenges and succeed.”
Since conducting this interview, Rabia has been promoted as Manager and will enter her new role from March 1st. To learn more about the Development for Growth programme and other development opportunities we offer, click here.
